Wearable Health Monitoring IoT Device
A complete wearable health monitoring system — from compact custom PCB to cloud-connected IoT dashboard — built to health-grade hardware standards.
Project Overview
Researched, designed, and delivered a complete wearable health monitoring system — from compact custom PCB to cloud-connected IoT dashboard — built to health-grade hardware standards.
The device runs on an ESP32-S3, developed from the ground up on a custom 50mm x 35mm PCB — compact and lightweight enough for continuous body-worn use. Integrated a full sensor suite covering heart rate and blood oxygen (SpO2) monitoring, contactless body temperature sensing, ambient temperature and humidity tracking, and motion and activity detection via IMU. Custom firmware drivers were written for each sensor from scratch based on careful datasheet analysis, ensuring efficient bus management and accurate data acquisition.
A full power management subsystem handles battery charging, over-current and over-voltage protection, and regulated voltage supply — critical for safe, reliable operation in a body-worn device. An RGB LED provides at-a-glance system status indicators (WiFi connectivity, low battery, elevated heart rate alerts) alongside an OLED display for real-time local readouts. All sensor data feeds into a complete IoT pipeline with a web dashboard for remote monitoring and historical trend analysis.
